The Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival is a five-day New Orleans affair for readers, writers, and theatre lovers.
You may know us as the hosts of the Stella Shouting Contest in Jackson Square every spring, but that’s just a small part of TWFest. We are so much more, and we are not your typical book festival.
Every year right around Tennessee Williams’ birthday (March 26), we celebrate the written word and the city Williams loved by hosting writing workshops, literary panel discussions, author readings and signings, a book fair, literary walking tours, a Williams scholars conference, culinary and cocktail events, writing marathons, music events, theatre events, and more.
We are also the hosts of the Saints + Sinners LGBTQ+ Literary Festival (SASFest.org) that takes place alongside TWFest every March.
Tennessee Williams called New Orleans his spiritual home. We celebrate his work plus the great contemporary writers living in our city right now, and we invite authors from all over the US and abroad to participate in our programming and revel in our literary culture.
Our next Festival is March 25 – 29, 2026, and it’s our 40th Anniversary. We hope to see you there!
