The Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies promotes understanding of the city’s history and culture, with an emphasis on civil rights. Current projects include Freedom on the Move, a collaborative database of runaway slave advertisements; New Orleans Historical, a free walking tour app of the city’s historic sites; and Climates of Inequality, a Humanities Action Lab collaboration exploring environmental racism in St. James Parish and Gordon Plaza. Visit our table tonight to learn how you can actively contribute to or use these free resources. Through our projects, we support new scholarship on New Orleans and foster interdisciplinary collaboration and community partnerships that promote public engagement and support the cultural life of the city.
