A National Historic Landmark, Longue Vue was once home to prominent 20th-century New Orleans philanthropists, Edith and Edgar Stern. From the jump, the couple always wanted their home to become a public resource, a place where the entire community could connect, learn, and be inspired. They didn’t realize that their home would be one of the last great garden estates of the Country Place Era and the mature masterpiece of landscape luminary Ellen Shipman.
