MY DREAM HAS THORNS AND I WEAR IT ANYWAY is a New Orleans cinematic short documentary exploring the question: “Is your art worth the life you sacrifice for it?” Through the story of working dancer Jakki Kalogridis, the film examines the costs of pursuing a creative life and asks whether those sacrifices should be necessary at all.
Beyond the documentary, the project expands into a citywide conversation through social media and public interviews inviting artists and audiences to share their own experiences with passion and sacrifice. Featuring an original score created in partnership with Versipel New Music, the film will screen in New Orleans alongside a live chamber ensemble performance, bringing together film, music, dance, and community.
