You’re in a hospital room. The machines beep, the clock is slow, your anxiety is high, clinicians of all stripes are constantly entering your room (whether or not you’re awake and ready for them) getting vitals, giving medicine, and occasionally taking a small vial of your blood away with them!
Suddenly, there’s a playful knock at the door. Two therapuetic healthcare clowns (without red nose or face paint) peek in and ask, “Would you like some company?” If you say yes, they step inside, not to perform at you, but to play with you. Maybe they teach your IV pole a new dance step. Maybe they get your nurse to join in a kazoo duet. Maybe they just make your family laugh for the first time all week.
That’s what we do. We bring joy into the places where it’s needed most, not just for patients of all ages, but for families, nurses, doctors…anyone who could use a moment of connection.
And when we’re not in hospitals, we’re in the community, offering classes and workshops for adults who want to explore play, creativity, and connection for themselves. (In fact, our next Theatrical Clown 101 is coming up soon!)
At Culture Collision, we’re bringing that same magic to you. Stop by our table and we’ll share how a single knock at the door can turn an ordinary day into a story worth telling, and yes… there might still be kazoos!
