Krewe de Voix is a vocal ensemble founded by a group of professional singers from the choirs of Trinity Episcopal and St. Patrick’s Catholic churches in New Orleans. In the summer of 2016 we realized that we formed an impressive vocal ensemble every time we went to lunch or out for drinks, so we got together for a trial rehearsal in August and gave our first concerts in December of last year. Now embarking on our second season, we’re excited to partner on October 6-8th with Marigny Opera Ballet and New Resonance Orchestra in the premier of The Book of Saints, a new opera-ballet written by the brilliant Tucker Fuller. We’re also working with the Williams Research Center at the Historic New Orleans Collection on our program celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of New Orleans, recreating the sounds of the Crescent City’s first decades. Our Christmas program will be given at Trinity Episcopal Church on December 8th and Christ Church, Covington, LA on December 17th, with traditional carols, some surprising pieces by Monteverdi, and excepts from the Ursuline Convent’s manuscript of 1736. Just over a year old, Krewe de Voix offers a unique voice among the city’s many great ensembles, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque music and dedicated to innovative and creative performances.
